Three cities, three entirely different registers. Cairo was dense and overwhelming in the best way — historic core, Khan el-Khalili, the river at night. Alexandria was coastal and layered, Mediterranean-facing, with the corniche and the old city co-existing. Aswan was calm by comparison: the Nile wide, the Nubian villages across the water, the pace slower.
